Chapter 2: The department.

In each department, the departmental council draws up, where necessary, a departmental tourism development plan. The departmental tourism committee, set up on the initiative of the departmental council, prepares and implements the department’s tourism policy.

The departmental council determines the status, organisational principles and composition of the departmental tourism committee. In particular, it includes delegates from the Departmental Council as well as members representing : 1° Consular bodies and, where appropriate, economic development committees ; 2° Tourist offices and tourist information centres; 3° The tourism, spa and leisure professions; 4° Tourism and leisure associations; 5° Tourist municipalities or their groupings and classified tourist resorts; 6°…

The departmental council entrusts all or part of the implementation of the department’s tourism policy to the departmental tourism committee, which contributes in particular to the development, promotion and marketing of tourism products, in collaboration with the professionals, organisations and any local structures involved at departmental and inter-municipal level.

The resources of the departmental tourism committee may include in particular: 1° Subsidies and contributions of all kinds from the State, the region, the department, the municipalities and their groupings; 2° Contributions from all other interested bodies and private individuals; 3° Fees for services rendered; 4° donations and legacies.

Each year, the departmental tourism committee submits its financial report to the plenary session of the departmental council.
