Article L135-2 of the French Tourism Code

The Lyon metropolitan area may create one or more tourist offices in all or part of its territory.

The areas of competence of each tourist office may not overlap.

When the Metropolitan Council decides to set up a single tourist office with jurisdiction over the entire metropolitan area :

– it takes the name of “Metropolitan Tourist Office” ;

– it replaces all pre-existing tourist offices and constitutes a departmental tourist committee within the meaning of article L. 132-2 ;

– the other tourist offices in tourist municipalities and classified tourist resorts are transferred to the Lyon Metropolitan Area and transformed into the information offices mentioned in article L. 133-3-1 of the Tourism Code, except when they become the headquarters of the office thus created.

Article L135-2

La métropole de Lyon peut créer un ou plusieurs offices de tourisme sur tout ou partie de son territoire.

Les périmètres de compétence de chaque office de tourisme ne peuvent se superposer.

Lorsque le conseil métropolitain décide d’instituer un office de tourisme unique compétent sur l’ensemble du territoire métropolitain :

– il prend la dénomination d'” office de tourisme métropolitain ” ;

– il se substitue à l’ensemble des offices de tourisme préexistants et constitue un comité départemental du tourisme au sens de l’article L. 132-2 ;

– les autres offices de tourisme des communes touristiques et des stations classées de tourisme sont transférés à la métropole de Lyon et transformés en bureau d’information mentionné à l’article L. 133-3-1 du code du tourisme, sauf lorsqu’ils deviennent le siège de l’office ainsi créé.
