Under the conditions set out in article L. 134-5, urban communities, metropolitan areas and the Lyon metropolitan area may set up one or more tourist offices in all or part of their territory.
The areas of responsibility of each tourist office may not overlap.
When a single tourist office is set up with jurisdiction over the entire territory of urban communities, metropolises or the Lyon metropolitan area, it is called a “metropolitan tourist office” or a “community tourist office” and exercises the powers mentioned in 2° of article L. 134-1 of this code.
Urban communities, metropolises or the Lyon metropolis decide whether to maintain existing tourist offices within six months of the date on which they are attached to them. If the tourist offices are to be maintained, the decision of the deliberative body of the urban communities, metropolises or the Lyon metropolitan area sets out the organisational procedures for the tourist offices concerned in accordance with the conditions set out in article L. 134-5.
Any tourist office set up by a tourist municipality or a classified tourist resort is transformed into an information office as referred to in article L. 133-3-1 when it is replaced by a new tourist office exercising its powers over an area extended to include other member municipalities. This provision does not apply when the head office of the substitute tourist office is located within the territory of the tourist municipality or classified tourist resort.
