Article L171-1 of the French Insurance Code

This Title governs any insurance contract whose purpose is to cover:

1° Maritime risks;

2° Air or aviation risks;

3° Risks relating to civil liability in connection with space operations;

4° Risks relating to the transport of goods by sea, air or land.

River and lake insurance contracts are governed by the provisions of this Title, with the exception of Articles L. 172-5, L. 172-11, L. 172-17, L. 172-26, L. 173-7, L. 173-13 (4°) and L. 173-21 (2°).

Article L171-1

Est régi par le présent titre tout contrat d’assurance qui a pour objet de garantir :


1° Les risques maritimes ;


2° Les risques aériens ou aéronautiques ;


3° Les risques relatifs à la responsabilité civile au titre d’une opération spatiale ;


4° Les risques relatifs au transport de marchandises par voie maritime, aérienne ou terrestre.


Le contrat d’assurance fluviale et lacustre est régi par les dispositions du présent titre, à l’exclusion des articles L. 172-5, L. 172-11, L. 172-17, L. 172-26, L. 173-7, L. 173-13 (4°), L. 173-21 (2°).
