Articles L. 181-1 and L. 181-2 may not preclude the public policy provisions of French law applicable regardless of the law governing the contract.
However, the court may give effect on the territory of the French Republic to the public policy provisions of the law of the Member State of the European Economic Area where the risk is situated or of a Member State which imposes the obligation to insure, if, according to the law of these countries, these provisions are applicable regardless of the law governing the contract.
Where the contract covers risks situated in several Member States of the European Economic Area, the contract shall be deemed, for the purposes of this article, to constitute several contracts, each of which relates to only one State.
