Article L217-29 of the French Consumer Code

In the event of transfer of ownership of the goods between consumers for valuable consideration or free of charge, the sub-purchaser shall benefit from the rights acquired by the original purchaser, relating to the legal guarantee of conformity vis-à-vis the professional seller and, where applicable, to the commercial guarantee vis-à-vis the guarantor, in accordance with the provisions of this chapter.

En cas de transfert de propriété du bien entre consommateurs à titre onéreux ou à titre gratuit, le sous-acquéreur bénéficie des droits acquis par l’acquéreur initial, relatifs à la garantie légale de conformité vis-à-vis du vendeur professionnel et le cas échéant à la garantie commerciale vis-à-vis du garant, conformément aux dispositions du présent chapitre.
