Article L2213-5 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The mayor may, by reasoned order, prohibit access to certain roads or sections of roads for vehicles transporting hazardous materials covered by Council Directive 82/501 of 24 June 1982 on the major accident hazards of certain industrial activities and likely to compromise public safety.

Le maire peut, par arrêté motivé, interdire l’accès de certaines voies ou de certaines portions de voies aux véhicules de transport de matières dangereuses visées par la directive 82/501 du Conseil du 24 juin 1982 concernant les risques d’accidents majeurs de certaines activités industrielles et de nature à compromettre la sécurité publique.
