Article L232-1 of the French Consumer Code

Notwithstanding any stipulation to the contrary, the consumer may not be deprived of the protection afforded to him by the provisions adopted by a Member State of the European Union pursuant to Council Directive 93/13/EEC of 5 April 1993 on unfair terms in consumer contracts, where the contract has a close link with the territory of a Member State.

Nonobstant toute stipulation contraire, le consommateur ne peut être privé de la protection que lui assurent les dispositions prises par un Etat membre de l’Union européenne en application de la directive 93/13/CEE du Conseil, du 5 avril 1993 concernant les clauses abusives dans les contrats conclus avec les consommateurs, lorsque le contrat présente un lien étroit avec le territoire d’un Etat membre.
