Article L2512-7 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The Prefect of Police is responsible, in the area of his jurisdiction, for the execution of the deliberations of the Paris Council and, where applicable, the arrondissement councils.

The Prefect of Police, or his representative, has access to the Paris Council and the arrondissement councils.

He is heard when he so requests and attends deliberations relating to matters within his jurisdiction, except when it concerns the clearance of his accounts.

Le préfet de police est chargé, dans le domaine de sa compétence, de l’exécution des délibérations du conseil de Paris et, le cas échéant, des conseils d’arrondissement.

Le préfet de police, ou son représentant, a entrée au conseil de Paris et aux conseils d’arrondissement.

Il est entendu quand il le demande et assiste aux délibérations relatives aux affaires relevant de sa compétence, excepté lorsqu’il s’agit de l’apurement de ses comptes.
