Article L2542-8 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The mayor may issue orders:

1° When ordering local precautions on objects entrusted to his vigilance and authority by 1°, 3° and 4° of Article L. 2212-2, by the second, third and fourth paragraphs of article L. 2542-4 and by article L. 2542-5 ;

2° When it is a matter of republishing police laws and regulations or reminding citizens to observe them.

Le maire peut prendre des arrêtés :

1° Lorsqu’il s’agit d’ordonner les précautions locales sur les objets confiés à sa vigilance et à son autorité par les 1°, 3° et 4° de l’article L. 2212-2, par les deuxième, troisième et quatrième alinéas de l’article L. 2542-4 et par l’article L. 2542-5 ;

2° Lorsqu’il s’agit de publier de nouveau les lois et règlements de police ou de rappeler les citoyens à leur observation.
