When a foreign national is refused entry into France, the air or sea transport company that carried him or her is obliged to return him or her without delay, at the request of the authorities responsible for controlling people at the border, to the point where he or she began using the company’s means of transport. If this is not possible, the foreign national will be returned to the State which issued the travel document with which he or she travelled or to any other place where he or she may be admitted.
The same applies when he or she is transported by a road transport company operating international routes in the form of regular lines, occasional services or shuttle services, excluding border traffic.
When the foreign national is transported by a rail transport company, the latter is obliged, at the request of the authorities responsible for controlling people at the border, to provide these authorities with places enabling the foreign national to be re-routed across the French border.
