Article L3342-1 of the French Public Health Code

The sale of alcoholic beverages to minors is prohibited. It is also forbidden to offer such drinks free of charge to minors in public houses, shops or other public places. The person offering the drink must require the customer to prove that he or she has reached the age of majority.

It is also forbidden to offer a minor, whether free of charge or in return for payment, any object that directly encourages excessive alcohol consumption. A decree of the Conseil d’Etat will determine the types and characteristics of these objects.

La vente des boissons alcooliques à des mineurs est interdite. L’offre de ces boissons à titre gratuit à des mineurs est également interdite dans les débits de boissons et tous commerces ou lieux publics. La personne qui délivre la boisson exige du client qu’il établisse la preuve de sa majorité.

L’offre, à titre gratuit ou onéreux, à un mineur de tout objet incitant directement à la consommation excessive d’alcool est également interdite. Un décret en Conseil d’Etat fixe les types et les caractéristiques de ces objets.
