Article L413-1 of the French Consumer Code

It is forbidden:
1° To adulterate products used for human or animal consumption, beverages and agricultural or natural products intended for sale;
2° To display, offer for sale or sell products used for human or animal consumption, beverages and agricultural or natural products, knowing that they are adulterated, corrupted or toxic ;
3° Exhibiting, offering for sale or selling, with knowledge of their intended purpose, products, objects or appliances suitable for falsifying products used for human or animal consumption, beverages or agricultural or natural products;
4° Encouraging the use of the products, objects or appliances mentioned in 3° by means of brochures, circulars, leaflets, posters, advertisements or instructions of any kind.
The offence is constituted even where the harmful falsification is known to the purchaser or consumer.

Il est interdit :
1° De falsifier des produits servant à l’alimentation humaine ou animale, des boissons et des produits agricoles ou naturels destinés à être vendus ;
2° D’exposer, de mettre en vente ou de vendre des produits servant à l’alimentation humaine ou animale, des boissons et des produits agricoles ou naturels, sachant qu’ils sont falsifiés, corrompus ou toxiques ;
3° D’exposer, de mettre en vente ou de vendre, en connaissant leur destination, des produits, objets ou appareils propres à effectuer la falsification des produits servant à l’alimentation humaine ou animale, des boissons ou des produits agricoles ou naturels ;
4° D’inciter à l’emploi des produits, objets ou appareils mentionnés au 3° par le moyen de brochures, circulaires, prospectus, affiches, annonces ou instructions quelconques.
L’infraction est constituée même au cas où la falsification nuisible est connue de l’acheteur ou du consommateur.
