Article L424-6 of the French Insurance Code

When it intervenes under the conditions provided for in articles L. 424-1, L. 424-2 and L. 424-3, the compensation body shall obtain all relevant documents and information and shall take the necessary steps to negotiate the settlement of claims. The law applicable for the compensation of the injured party is the law in force on the territory of the State where the accident occurred.

Lorsqu’il intervient dans les conditions prévues aux articles L. 424-1, L. 424-2 et L. 424-3, l’organisme d’indemnisation se fait communiquer tous documents et informations utiles et prend les mesures nécessaires pour négocier le règlement des sinistres. Le droit applicable pour l’indemnisation de la personne lésée est le droit en vigueur sur le territoire de l’Etat de survenance de l’accident.
