Article L441-6 of the French Consumer Code

Any technique, including software, the purpose of which is to restrict the consumer’s freedom to install the software or operating systems of their choice on their terminal, at the end of the period provided for in the second paragraph of Article L. 217-3, is prohibited, unless it is intended to ensure the compliance of this terminal with the essential requirements mentioned in Article L. 34-9 of the French Post and Electronic Communications Code.

Article L441-6

Toute technique, y compris logicielle, dont l’objet est de restreindre la liberté du consommateur d’installer les logiciels ou les systèmes d’exploitation de son choix sur son terminal, à l’issue du délai prévu au deuxième alinéa de l’article L. 217-3, est interdite, sauf si elle vise à assurer la conformité de ce terminal aux exigences essentielles mentionnées à l’article L. 34-9 du code des postes et des communications électroniques.
