The pharmacopoeia includes the texts of the European pharmacopoeia and those of the French pharmacopoeia, including those relating to the pharmacopoeia of overseas territories which meet the conditions of the regulations in force in the field. It is drawn up and made compulsory by decision of the Director General of the Agence nationale de sécurité du médicament et des produits de santé. It is published under conditions laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.
A decree in the Council of State sets out the adaptations to the French pharmacopoeia required by the specific characteristics of medicinal plants traditionally used in overseas departments and collectivities.
