Article L552-10 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The prefect or, in Paris, the police prefect, may object on grounds of public order to the decision to admit an asylum seeker to a place of accommodation. In this case, the Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration is required to take a new decision on admission. The Office ensures that the people referred to the accommodation are present for the duration of the procedure.

Le préfet ou, à Paris, le préfet de police, peut s’opposer pour des motifs d’ordre public à la décision d’admission d’un demandeur d’asile dans un lieu d’hébergement. Dans ce cas, l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration est tenu de prendre une nouvelle décision d’admission. L’office s’assure de la présence dans les lieux d’hébergement des personnes qui y ont été orientées pour la durée de la procédure.
