Article L722-4 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The administrative authority may initiate the ex officio enforcement procedure for deportation decisions other than those imposing an obligation to leave French territory as soon as they are notified.
When a decision to surrender to the authorities of another State or imposing an obligation to leave French territory accompanied by a return or movement ban has already been enforced or the foreign national subject to it has returned to France, this ban, if still in force, may be enforced ex officio.

Article L722-4

L’autorité administrative peut engager la procédure d’exécution d’office des décisions d’éloignement autres que celle portant obligation de quitter le territoire français dès leur notification.
Lorsqu’une décision de remise aux autorités d’un autre État ou portant obligation de quitter le territoire français assortie d’une interdiction de retour ou de circulation a déjà été exécutée ou que l’étranger qui en fait l’objet est revenu en France, cette interdiction, si elle poursuit ses effets, peut être exécutée d’office.
