Article L732-4 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When the house arrest has been decreed pursuant to 1°, 2°, 3°, 4° or 5° of article L. 731-3, it may not exceed a period of six months.
It may be renewed once, within the same time limit. However, in the cases provided for in 2° and 5° of the same article, it may only be renewed for as long as the ban on return or the ban on movement on French territory remains enforceable.

Article L732-4

Lorsque l’assignation à résidence a été édictée en application des 1°, 2°, 3°, 4° ou 5° de l’article L. 731-3, elle ne peut excéder une durée de six mois.
Elle peut être renouvelée une fois, dans la même limite de durée. Toutefois, dans les cas prévus aux 2° et 5° du même article, elle ne peut être renouvelée que tant que l’interdiction de retour ou l’interdiction de circulation sur le territoire français demeure exécutoire.
