Article R111-4-2 of the French Consumer Code

Manufacturers and importers of portable computers with the exception of tablet computers, slate computers and so-called mobile thin client computers, shall ensure:

1° From the date of placing the first unit of a model on the national market, the availability of the following spare parts for that model:

a) Mass storage components (HDD – SSD);

b) Display devices;

c) Batteries;

d) Power connectors;

e) Chargers ;

2° No later than two years after the date on which the first unit of a model is placed on the national market, the availability of the following spare parts for that model:

a) Motherboards;

b) Random access memory;

c) Fans;

d) Radiators;

e) Keyboards;

f) Ports, connectors.

They also ensure the availability of the spare parts mentioned in 1° and 2° for a minimum period of five years from the date on which the last unit of the model concerned was placed on the national market.

Les fabricants et les importateurs d’ordinateurs portables à l’exception des ordinateurs tablettes, ordinateurs ardoises et ordinateurs dits clients légers mobiles, assurent :

1° Dès la date de la mise sur le marché national de la première unité d’un modèle, la disponibilité des pièces détachées suivantes de ce modèle :

a) Composants mémoire de masse (HDD – SSD) ;

b) Dispositifs d’affichage ;

c) Batteries ;

d) Connecteurs d’alimentation ;

e) Chargeurs ;

2° Au plus tard deux ans après la date de la mise sur le marché national de la première unité d’un modèle, la disponibilité des pièces détachées suivantes de ce modèle :

a) Cartes mères ;

b) Mémoires vives ;

c) Ventilateurs ;

d) Radiateurs ;

e) Claviers ;

f) Ports, connecteurs.

Ils assurent également la disponibilité des pièces détachées mentionnées aux 1° et 2° pendant une durée minimale de cinq ans à compter de la date de mise sur le marché national de la dernière unité du modèle concerné.
