The national health identifier is used to reference the health data and administrative data of any person receiving or due to receive a diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, pain-relieving, disability-compensating or loss-of-autonomy procedure, or interventions necessary for the coordination of several of these procedures.
The national health identifier may not be used for any purpose other than those mentioned in the first paragraph, unless the health identifier is processed for health research purposes as mentioned in the last paragraph of article 30 of law no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 relating to information technology, files and freedoms, and authorised under the conditions laid down in section 3 of chapter III of title II of the same law.
