The national health identifier is used to reference the health data and administrative data of any person receiving or due to receive a diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive, pain-relieving, disability-compensating or loss-of-autonomy procedure, or interventions necessary for the coordination of several of these procedures. The data mentioned in article R. 1111-8-2 may only be referenced using the national health identifier by the professionals, establishments, services and organisations mentioned in article L. 1110-4 and the professionals making up a care team in application of article L. 1110-12 and involved in the health or medico-social care of the person concerned, as well as by the services mentioned in article L. 4622-1 of the Labour Code.

The use of health data and administrative data referenced with the national health identifier is only authorised as part of personal data processing if the following two conditions are met: 1° The purpose of the processing is exclusively health or medico-social, including the functions necessary to ensure the social monitoring or administrative management of the persons in care; 2° The processing is carried out in compliance with the provisions of…

The right to object provided for in the first paragraph of article 38 of law no. 78-17 of 6 January 1978 relating to information technology, files and civil liberties does not apply to the processing of personal data for the sole purpose of referencing the data provided for in articles R. 1111-8-2 and R. 1111-8-3 using the national health identifier.

Teleservices allow the professionals, establishments, services or organisations mentioned in article R. 1111-8-3 to access the registration number in the national register of natural persons and to check its accuracy in accordance with the reference system mentioned in article R. 1111-8-7.
