Article R1333-64 of the French Public Health Code

Before and after a nuclear medicine procedure for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes or a brachytherapy procedure using permanent implants, the person carrying out the procedure must provide the patient, his or her legal representative in the case of a minor, or, in the case of an adult subject to a legal protection measure with representation relating to the person, to the person in charge of the measure, appropriate oral and written information on the risk of ionising radiation and the instructions necessary to limit exposure to ionising radiation of persons who will be in contact with him/her. This information may also be provided to the person in charge of a legal protection measure with personal assistance if the protected adult expressly consents.

This information and instructions are given before the patient leaves the nuclear medicine or radiotherapy department.

Avant et après un acte de médecine nucléaire à visée diagnostique ou thérapeutique ou un acte de curiethérapie par implants permanents, le réalisateur de l’acte fournit au patient , à son représentant légal s’il s’agit d’un mineur, ou, s’il s’agit d’une personne majeure faisant l’objet d’une mesure de protection juridique avec représentation relative à la personne, à la personne chargée de la mesure, des informations orales et écrites appropriées sur le risque des rayonnements ionisants et les instructions nécessaires pour limiter l’exposition aux rayonnements ionisants des personnes qui seront en contact avec lui. Ces informations peuvent également être fournies à la personne chargée d’une mesure de protection juridique avec assistance à la personne si le majeur protégé y consent expressément.

Ces informations et instructions sont délivrées avant que le patient ne quitte le service de médecine nucléaire ou de radiothérapie.
