Article R211-34 of the French Insurance Code

When the victim does not undergo the medical examination mentioned in article R. 211-43 or when he/she disputes the choice of the doctor and no agreement can be reached with the insurer, the appointment of a doctor as expert by the interim relief judge, at the insurer’s request, extends by one month the time limit given to the insurer to submit the offer of compensation.

Lorsque la victime ne se soumet pas à l’examen médical mentionné à l’article R. 211-43 ou lorsqu’elle élève une contestation sur le choix du médecin sans qu’un accord puisse intervenir avec l’assureur, la désignation, à la demande de l’assureur, d’un médecin à titre d’expert par le juge des référés proroge d’un mois le délai imparti à l’assureur pour présenter l’offre d’indemnité.
