Article R2112-1 of the French Public Health Code

The departmental maternal and child health protection service carries out the tasks assigned to it by articles L. 2112-1 and L. 2112-2 by organising, in particular, either directly or by means of an agreement under the conditions set out in article L. 2112-4, consultations, home visits and other individual or collective medico-social actions to promote maternal and child health.

The geographical distribution of these consultations and actions is determined according to the health and social needs of the population, taking into account, as a priority, the specific socio-demographic characteristics of the department and, in particular, the existence of vulnerable populations and disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
