Article R220-8 of the French Insurance Code

Within fifteen days of the request being made, the insurer must provide the insured, free of charge, with a supporting document for each means of transport covered by the contract.

This supporting document must contain the information laid down by joint order of the Minister for the Economy and Finance and the Minister for Transport.

It must be kept at the bottom station of the means of transport and made available there to the agents of the public authority.

It only implies a presumption of cover on the part of the insurer.
