Article R221-8 of the French Sports Code

The period of registration on the list of elite sportsmen and women in one of the categories provided for in articles R. 221-4, R. 221-5 and R. 221-6 may be extended for a period of one year, following a reasoned opinion from the national technical director of the relevant delegating federation, when the athlete has temporarily not achieved the required performances or rankings, in particular for medical reasons or reasons linked to maternity.

La durée d’inscription sur la liste des sportifs de haut niveau dans l’une des catégories prévues aux articles R. 221-4, R. 221-5 et R. 221-6 peut être prorogée pour une durée d’un an, après avis motivé du directeur technique national placé auprès de la fédération délégataire compétente, lorsque le sportif n’a pas, momentanément, réalisé les performances ou obtenu les classements requis, notamment pour des raisons médicales ou pour des raisons liées à la maternité.
