TITLE II: SPORTSMEN AND WOMEN

High level sportsperson status is obtained by inclusion on the list of high level sportspersons drawn up by the Minister for Sport on the recommendation of the relevant delegated federation, after consultation with the National Technical Director.

The Minister for Sport draws up the list of sports recognised as high level before 31 December of the year of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and, for sports on the programme of the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, before 31 December of the year of these Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Entry on the list of top-level sportsmen and women is made in one of the following categories: Elite, Senior, Relève, Reconversion.

Athletes who achieve a significant performance or ranking in international benchmark events may be entered in the “Elite” category. This performance, ranking and events are set out in the federal performance plan of the relevant delegating federation. Registration in this category is valid for two years. It may be renewed under the same conditions.

Athletes who achieve a significant performance or ranking in the same international reference events as defined for the “Elite” category, but who do not meet the conditions required for inclusion in the “Elite” category, may be entered in the “Senior” category. Athletes selected for the French national team for an international competition included in the federal performance plan of the relevant delegated federation may be registered in the “Relève” category.
