In the light of the initial findings of the expert referred to in the last paragraph of article R. 232-67-10, the head of the athlete’s passport management unit may recommend to the director of the testing department that targeted tests be carried out.
When, in the presence of an atypical profile result, the expert considers, in the light of successive haematological or steroidal data, that the probability that the profile is attributable to the use of a prohibited substance or method outweighs the probability that it is attributable to a normal physiological state or a pathological state, the head of the athlete passport management unit submits the biological profile for examination by the committee of experts referred to in article L. 232-22-1.
In the absence of an atypical profile result, where the expert considers that it is very likely that the profile is attributable to the use of a prohibited substance or method and that it is very unlikely that it is attributable to a normal physiological state or a pathological state, the head of the athlete passport management unit shall submit the biological profile for examination by the expert committee referred to in article L. 232-22-1.
When the expert considers, in view of the successive haematological or steroidal data, that it is probable that the results observed are attributable to a pathological condition, the head of the athlete passport management unit shall inform the Agency after having obtained, if he deems it necessary, confirmation of the probable pathology by other experts. The Agency will then appoint a doctor to inform the athlete concerned.
In the context of establishing the steroid profile, the head of the athlete’s passport management unit may refrain from appointing an expert and proceed himself in accordance with the preceding paragraphs.
