Article R2513-14 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The Marseilles marine firefighters battalion is authorised to provide, for the benefit of its personnel and that of other defence formations, instruction relating to the prevention and fighting of fires and perils of all kinds.

As such, it is approved as a training organisation by decrees of the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Defence.

These decrees specify the responsibilities of the commander of the Marseille marine fire brigade and determine how training is organised and monitored.

The marine firefighters battalion may also organise specific training or courses approved and sanctioned on behalf of the authorities to which they report for the benefit of personnel who are not firefighters.

As part of the national training scheme for professional and volunteer firefighters, the civil defence and security directorate may entrust the marine firefighters battalion with the organisation of training and instruction in areas where the battalion’s experience has been recognised.

Le bataillon de marins-pompiers de Marseille est habilité à dispenser, au profit de son personnel et de celui des autres formations de la défense, les enseignements relatifs à la prévention et à la lutte contre les incendies et les périls de toute nature.

A ce titre, il est agréé comme organisme de formation par des arrêtés du ministre de l’intérieur et du ministre de la défense.

Ces arrêtés précisent les responsabilités du commandant du bataillon de marins-pompiers de Marseille et déterminent les modalités d’organisation et de contrôle de la formation.

Le bataillon de marins-pompiers peut également organiser au profit des personnels ne relevant pas de la filière sapeurs-pompiers des entraînements ou formations spécifiques agréées et sanctionnées au nom des autorités dont ils relèvent.

Dans le cadre du schéma national de formation des sapeurs-pompiers professionnels et volontaires, la direction de la défense et de la sécurité civile peut confier au bataillon de marins-pompiers l’organisation de formations et d’entraînements dans les domaines où l’expérience de celui-ci aura été reconnue.
