Article R321-5 of the French Insurance Code

Undertakings authorised to operate in the classes mentioned in 20 and 22 of article R. 321-1 may be authorised to provide directly, as ancillary insurance forming part of a life insurance contract and subject to payment of a separate premium or contribution, supplementary insurance against the risks of bodily injury including occupational disability, accidental death or invalidity following an accident or illness. In this case, the contract must specify that this additional cover terminates at the latest at the same time as the main cover.

Les entreprises agréées pour pratiquer les branches mentionnées aux 20 et 22 de l’article R. 321-1 peuvent être autorisées à réaliser directement, à titre d’assurance accessoire faisant partie d’un contrat d’assurance sur la vie et moyennant paiement d’une prime ou cotisation distincte, des assurances complémentaires contre les risques d’atteintes corporelles incluant l’incapacité de travail professionnelle, de décès accidentel ou d’invalidité à la suite d’accident ou de maladie. Dans ce cas, le contrat doit préciser que ces garanties complémentaires prennent fin au plus tard en même temps que la garantie principale.
