In order to obtain, in application of article L. 4061-5 of the present code, a specialist qualification different from the qualification initially recognised, the army practitioner covered by the provisions of article L. 4138-2 of the code de la défense must provide evidence of training and experience which provide him with skills equivalent to those required to obtain the diploma of specialised studies in the speciality applied for.
Recognition as a specialist is decided by the Minister for Defence, after consultation with the relevant national speciality committee. A representative of the armed forces health service attends the work of this committee when it concerns an armed forces practitioner.
The procedure for examining applications and the related management fees are set by an order of the Minister for Defence, issued after consultation with the national councils of the orders concerned.
The favourable opinion of a national speciality commission may be taken into account for the recognition of a specialist qualification when registering with the ordre.
