The Board of Directors is made up of fourteen members:
1° A personality from the business world, chairman, appointed by order of the minister responsible for industrial property for a period of three years renewable once;
2° The director of civil affairs and the seal at the ministry of justice or his representative ;
3° The Director of the Budget at the Ministry of the Economy and Finance or his representative;
4° Two representatives of the Minister responsible for industrial property, including the Director of Legal Affairs or his representative, and one representative of the Minister responsible for research;
5° The Chief Executive Officer of the public limited company BPI-Groupe or his representative;
6° The president of the Compagnie nationale des conseils en propriété industrielle and a representative of industrial property practitioners in companies appointed by order of the minister in charge of industrial property for a period of three years renewable once;
7° Three representatives of industrial circles interested in the protection of industrial property appointed by order of the minister in charge of industrial property for a period of three years renewable once;
8° Two representatives of staff in post in the establishment, elected under conditions set by order of the minister in charge of industrial property.
The chairman is assisted by a vice-chairman appointed under the same conditions as the chairman and chosen from among the members of the board of directors.
The duties of a member of the Board of Directors are not remunerated. They give entitlement to the travel and subsistence allowances provided for in decree no. 2006-781 of 3 July 2006.
In the event of a vacancy caused by the death, resignation or any other cause, of one of the members of the Board of Directors appointed by order of the Minister responsible for industrial property, he shall be replaced for the remainder of his term of office.
The Director General, the Budget Controller and the Accounting Officer shall attend meetings of the Board of Directors in an advisory capacity.
The Chairman may call any person whose presence he considers useful to attend meetings in an advisory capacity.
The secretariat of the Board of Directors is provided by a member of the Institute’s staff appointed for this purpose by the Director General.
