Article R512-37 of the French Consumer Code

If it does not emerge from the laboratory report that the sample does not comply with the characteristics to which the product must conform, the administrative department which registered the sample, in the absence of any other piece of information likely to constitute a presumption of non-compliance with the regulations, shall notify the owner or holder of the product without delay.

In this case, the value of the samples taken shall be paid automatically, under the conditions set out in article L. 512-24, unless the owner has waived reimbursement.

Article R512-37

S’il ne ressort pas du rapport du laboratoire que l’échantillon n’est pas conforme aux caractéristiques auxquelles le produit doit répondre, le service administratif qui a enregistré le prélèvement, en l’absence de tout autre élément d’information susceptible de constituer une présomption de non-conformité à la réglementation, en avise sans délai le propriétaire ou le détenteur du produit.

Dans ce cas, il est procédé d’office au paiement de la valeur des échantillons prélevés, dans les conditions prévues à l’article L. 512-24, sauf si le propriétaire a renoncé au remboursement.
