Article R6123-65 of the French Public Health Code

Haemodialysis in a self-dialysis unit can be either simple self-dialysis or assisted self-dialysis. Simple self-dialysis is offered to patients who have been trained in haemodialysis and are able to carry out all the procedures required for their treatment themselves. Assisted self-dialysis is offered to patients trained in haemodialysis, but who require the assistance of a nurse for certain procedures. The self-dialysis unit can accommodate patients who are travelling or on holiday, when they are independent and trained in haemodialysis.
