Article R6123-71 of the French Public Health Code

Authorisation to provide cardiac surgery for adult patients may only be granted to a health establishment or a health cooperation group on condition that, on the same site, in a common building or, failing that, in neighbouring buildings, it complies with the following requirements:

1° Have a full-time inpatient unit for cardiac surgery patients and protected operating theatres dedicated to this activity;

2° To have :

a) An intensive care unit authorised under 1° of article R. 6123-34-1 ;

b) A medical unit specialising in cardiology ;

c) A cardiology intensive care unit, authorised under 3° of article R. 6123-34-1 and mentioned in IV of article R. 6123-34-3.

3° Have an authorisation for interventional activity under medical imaging in cardiology according to the following procedures:

a) Interventional arrhythmology mentioned in 1° of article R. 6123-129 under mention A provided for in 1° of the I of article R. 6123-130 ;

b) Ischaemic and structural heart disease in adults, referred to in 3° of article R. 6123-129.

Article R6123-71

L’autorisation de pratiquer l’activité de soins de chirurgie cardiaque pour les patients adultes ne peut être délivrée à un établissement de santé ou à un groupement de coopération sanitaire qu’à condition de respecter, sur le même site, dans un bâtiment commun ou, à défaut, dans des bâtiments voisins, les prescriptions suivantes :

1° Disposer d’une unité d’hospitalisation à temps complet prenant en charge les patients de chirurgie cardiaque et de salles d’intervention protégées dédiées à cette activité ;

2° Disposer de :

a) Une unité de réanimation autorisée au titre du 1° de l’article R. 6123-34-1 ;

b) Une unité de médecine pratiquant la cardiologie ;

c) Une unité de soins intensifs de cardiologie, autorisée au titre du 3° de l’article R. 6123-34-1 et mentionnée au IV de l’article R. 6123-34-3.

3° Disposer d’une autorisation d’activité interventionnelle sous imagerie médicale en cardiologie suivant les modalités :

a) Rythmologie interventionnelle mentionnée au 1° de l’article R. 6123-129 au titre de la mention A prévue au 1° du I de l’article R. 6123-130 ;

b) Cardiopathies ischémiques et structurelles de l’adulte prévue au 3° de l’article R. 6123-129.
