Article R754-7 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When the foreign national submits his or her asylum application to the custodial authority, in accordance with Article R. 754-6, the custodial authority shall immediately inform the prefect who ordered the detention so that he or she can decide whether or not to keep the foreign national in detention in accordance with the first paragraph of Article L. 754-3.

Article R754-7

Lorsque l’étranger remet sa demande d’asile à l’autorité dépositaire, conformément à l’article R. 754-6, celle-ci en informe sans délai le préfet qui a ordonné le placement en rétention afin qu’il se prononce sur le maintien en rétention conformément au premier alinéa de l’article L. 754-3.
