A foreign national placed or held in administrative detention who wishes to apply for asylum shall submit his application in a sealed envelope to the authority holding the application.For the purposes of this chapter, the authorities holding applications for asylum in detention facilities are, in a detention centre, the head of the centre, his deputy or, where applicable, the person responsible for managing administrative files and, in a detention facility,…

The asylum application made in detention is drawn up in French on a form drawn up by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons. The form is signed and accompanied by two recent identity photographs and, where applicable, the travel document.

Aforeign nationals placed or held in administrative detention who wish to apply for asylum may benefit, in order to present their application, from legal assistance provided by the legal entities mentioned in articles R. 744-20 and R. 744-21, in application of the agreements provided for in these same articles.They may also benefit from linguistic assistance in order to present their application, under the conditions provided for in article R. 744-17.

When the foreign national hands over his asylum application to the depositary authority, the latter shall record the date and time of handover in the register referred to in Article L. 744-2.
