Article R811-41 of the French Commercial code

Regional inspecting magistrates carry out inspections at the request of the Government Commissioner or the coordinating magistrate. They may also carry out inspections on their own initiative. They shall inform the coordinating magistrate of the inspections they intend to carry out.

The coordinating magistrate may carry out any inspection on his own initiative.

Les magistrats inspecteurs régionaux effectuent des inspections à la demande du commissaire du Gouvernement ou du magistrat coordonnateur. Ils peuvent également en effectuer d’office. Ils informent le magistrat coordonnateur des inspections qu’ils envisagent de réaliser.

Le magistrat coordonnateur peut, d’office, effectuer toute inspection.
