Family information, counselling and advice centres and sexual health centres must be non-profit-making.
The President of the Departmental Council approves sexual health centres, with the exception of centres run by a public authority. In this case, the creation or extension of these centres is decided by the local authority concerned, after consultation with the chair of the departmental council.
Each sexual health centre set up within the maternal and child protection centres is equipped with the necessary resources to inform, advise and assist women who request a voluntary interruption of pregnancy. In addition, it is authorised to carry out voluntary termination of pregnancy by medication under an agreement concluded in accordance with the procedures set out in article L. 2212-2, under the conditions set out in articles L. 2212-1…
The sexual health centres are authorised to supply contraceptive drugs, products or objects free of charge to minors wishing to maintain secrecy and to people who are not covered by a statutory or regulatory health insurance scheme. In these cases, the costs of medical biology tests ordered for contraceptive prescriptions are borne by the sexual health centres. The procedures for applying this article shall be specified by decree.
Sexual health centres may, as part of their contraceptive prescription activities and under the responsibility of a doctor or midwife, provide prevention, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. The following are determined by decree in the Conseil d’Etat: 1° The operating conditions for family information, consultation or counselling establishments ; 2° The conditions under which sexual health centres operate and are supervised, and the conditions under which sexual health centres that are not run by a public authority are approved.
