Section II: State-guaranteed transactions

The Caisse Centrale de Réassurance, acting with the guarantee of the State, is authorised to insure or reinsure against risks resulting from exceptional events, such as foreign or civil war, public order offences, civil unrest or industrial disputes, when these risks arise from the use of means of transport of any kind, or relate to goods in transit or in storage.

The State guarantee may be granted to the Caisse Centrale de Réassurance in respect of its reinsurance of risks covered by insurance or the financial guarantee pursuant to article L. 597-7 of the Environment Code. A decree of the Conseil d’Etat shall lay down the terms and conditions for the application of articles L. 431-4 and L. 431-5, in particular the conditions under which treaties or contracts are drawn up and tariffs set for the operations referred to in the said articles.

A separate account opened in the caisse’s books records all the insurance and reinsurance transactions referred to in Articles L. 431-4 and L. 431-5.
