Article R7422-1 of the French Labour Code
In the cases provided for in article L. 7422-2, the schedule of working hours is drawn up by the Prefect, after consulting a departmental committee made up of three employers and three homeworkers.

In the cases provided for in article L. 7422-2, the schedule of working hours is drawn up by the Prefect, after consulting a departmental committee made up of three employers and three homeworkers.
The members of the departmental commission are appointed by the Prefect according to the nature of the activity, after consultation with: 1° Employers’ and workers’ organisations concerned, which are representative at national level; 2° The Regional Director of Business, Competition, Consumer Affairs, Labour and Employment.
The composition of the departmental committee may vary according to the nature of the work for which it is consulted and, for the same branch of activity, according to whether it is called upon to issue an opinion on the time taken to carry out the work or on wages and workshop costs.
The orders issued by the Prefect in accordance with article R. 7422-1 are published within one month of the date on which they were issued and inserted in the department’s recueil des actes administratifs. On expiry of the period of one clear day from their publication in the chief town of the department, these decrees are applicable throughout the department or district.
