Chapter IV: Organisation of certain film screenings

The organisations mentioned in Article L. 214-1 may organise the screenings listed in 1° of this article, which consist of the showing of long-running cinematographic works, for a limited number of screenings, determined per year and per association or group, set by decree. The conditions for authorising the associations and similar bodies mentioned in 2° of Article L. 214-1, as well as the conditions under which screenings are organised, are set by decree.

The screenings mentioned in 4° of Article L. 214-1 may only be organised by public establishments in accordance with their statutory purpose.

The showing of long-length cinematographic works during the screenings mentioned in 5° of article L. 214-1 is prohibited when these screenings are intended to promote directly or indirectly the marketing of products or the provision of services.

The screenings referred to in 6° of Article L. 214-1, which consist in the performance of long-running cinematographic works, may only be organised after authorisation has been granted by the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée under conditions laid down by decree. When a feature-length cinematographic work has obtained the exhibition permit provided for in article L. 211-1, it may not be shown at the screenings mentioned in Article L. 214-1 before the expiry of a period set by decree, starting from the date of issue of this visa. This decree may set a different deadline depending on the nature of the screenings concerned.

The screenings mentioned in Article L. 214-1 may not give rise to the use of advertising material used for screenings organised by operators of cinematographic entertainment establishments.

The screenings mentioned in Article L. 214-1 do not give rise to the application of the provisions of articles L. 115-1 to L. 115-5, L. 211-1 and L. 211-2, including when they take place in cinemas.
