Cinematographic representation is subject to obtaining an operating licence issued by the Minister of Culture. This licence may be refused or issued subject to conditions for reasons relating to the protection of children and young people or respect for human dignity. The conditions and procedures for issuing the visa are set by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.
The issue of a licence is subject to the payment of a fee to the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée. This fee is proportional to the duration of the cinematographic work for which the licence is requested, at the rate of 0.82 euros per minute. The fee is not charged if it is less than €10.
