Chapter IV: Communication obligations of the Consumer Ombudsman

Every consumer mediator shall set up a website dedicated to mediation and providing direct access to information relating to the mediation process.This website shall enable consumers to submit a request for mediation online together with supporting documents.On request, this information may be made available on another durable medium.

The Ombudsman shall provide on its website an electronic link to the European online dispute resolution platform provided for in Regulation (EU) No 524/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on the online settlement of consumer disputes and amending Regulation (EEC) No 2006/2004 and Directive No 2009/22/EC (CLR Regulation).

Parties must always have the option of using postal mediation.

The list of information mentioned in article L. 614-1 and the annual report referred to in article L. 613-1 are made available to the public and communicated by the ombudsman, in accordance with the procedures laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat.

The consumer mediator communicates to the consumer mediation evaluation and control commission mentioned in article L. 615-1 information relating to its skills, organisation and activity. The list of this information is set by decree in the Conseil d’Etat. .
