Section 5: Provisions specific to certain products

The labelling of a product with a registered designation of origin for cheese includes the name and address of the manufacturer.

The labelling of a product benefiting from a milk registered designation of origin includes the name of the manufacturer or maturer of the product benefiting from the registered designation of origin as well as the address, within the geographical area of the designation concerned, of the manufacturing and/or maturing site.

The specifications referred to in article L. 641-6 du code rural et de la pêche maritime may make it compulsory to use the words “appellation d’origine contrôlée” on the labelling and presentation of the wines concerned and determine the procedures for applying this obligation.

The labelling of a product sold under a private label will mention the name and address of the manufacturer if the manufacturer so requests. A product sold under a private label is considered to be a product whose characteristics have been defined by the undertaking or group of undertakings responsible for its retail sale and which is the owner of the brand under which it is sold.

The designations “pure cocoa butter chocolate” and “traditional chocolate” and all other equivalent designations are reserved for chocolates made solely from fats derived from cocoa beans, without the addition of vegetable fat.
