Article 122-18 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

Companies applying for financial assistance for the production of long or short cinematographic works or for the production of audiovisual works in the fiction or documentary genre must submit the following to the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée:
1° When submitting the production estimate, a detailed provisional assessment of the carbon footprint generated by the production of the work;
2° When submitting the final production cost, a detailed final assessment of the carbon footprint generated by the production of the work. When the aid in question is applied for after the work has been completed, the company must also submit the detailed provisional balance sheet.
The balance sheets take into account the direct and indirect emissions induced in particular by the purchase of services, material resources, technical resources, post-production, accommodation and meals, transport of people and goods and waste management.
The carbon footprint is calculated in accordance with a benchmark set by decision of the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée. Calculation methodologies approved by the Chairman of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée shall be deemed to comply with the benchmark.
The award and payment of financial aid are subject to the submission of the reports provided for in this article. Failure to comply with this condition will result either in the refusal of aid, or in the withdrawal of aid granted on a conditional basis, together with the repayment of sums already received and, where applicable, the non-payment of the balance of the aid.

Article 122-18

Les entreprises sollicitant l’attribution d’une aide financière à la production d’œuvres cinématographiques de longue et de courte durée ou à la production d’œuvres audiovisuelles, appartenant au genre fiction ou documentaire, remettent au Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée :
1° Lors de la remise du devis de production, un bilan prévisionnel détaillé relatif à l’empreinte carbone induite par la production de l’œuvre ;
2° Lors de la remise du coût définitif de production, un bilan définitif détaillé relatif à l’empreinte carbone induite par la production de l’œuvre. Lorsque l’aide concernée est sollicitée après achèvement de l’œuvre, l’entreprise remet également le bilan prévisionnel détaillé.
Les bilans prennent en compte les émissions directes et indirectes induites notamment, par les achats de services, les ressources matérielles, les moyens techniques, la post-production, l’hébergement et les repas, le transport de personnes et de biens et la gestion des déchets.
Le calcul de l’empreinte carbone est effectué conformément à un référentiel fixé par décision du président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée. Sont réputées conformes au référentiel les méthodologies de calcul homologuées par le président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
L’attribution et le versement de l’aide financière sont subordonnés à la remise des bilans prévus au présent article. La méconnaissance de cette condition donne lieu soit au refus de l’aide, soit au retrait de l’aide attribuée à titre conditionnel, assorti d’un reversement des sommes déjà reçues et entraîne, le cas échéant, le non-versement du solde de l’aide.
