Article 230-3 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

On completion of the operations or as soon as it appears that such operations are technically impossible or on expiry of the prescribed time limit or on receipt of the stop order from the public prosecutor, the investigating court, the judicial police officer, with the authorisation of the public prosecutor or examining magistrate, or the court hearing the case, the results obtained and the documents received are returned by the head of the technical body either to the author of the requisition, or to the instructing magistrate if the requisition was sent directly. Subject to the obligations arising from national defence secrecy, the results are accompanied by technical information that is useful for understanding and using them, as well as a certificate endorsed by the head of the technical body certifying the sincerity of the results transmitted.

The elements thus obtained are the subject of a report of receipt and are placed in the case file.

Dès l’achèvement des opérations ou dès qu’il apparaît que ces opérations sont techniquement impossibles ou à l’expiration du délai prescrit ou à la réception de l’ordre d’interruption émanant du procureur de la République, de la juridiction d’instruction, de l’officier de police judiciaire, sur autorisation du procureur de la République ou du juge d’instruction, ou de la juridiction de jugement saisie de l’affaire, les résultats obtenus et les pièces reçues sont retournés par le responsable de l’organisme technique soit à l’auteur de la réquisition, soit au magistrat mandant dans le cas où la réquisition a été adressée directement. Sous réserve des obligations découlant du secret de la défense nationale, les résultats sont accompagnés des indications techniques utiles à la compréhension et à leur exploitation ainsi que d’une attestation visée par le responsable de l’organisme technique certifiant la sincérité des résultats transmis.

Les éléments ainsi obtenus font l’objet d’un procès-verbal de réception et sont versés au dossier de la procédure.
