Article 259-3 of the French Civil Code

The spouses must communicate with each other and with the judge, as well as with the experts and other persons designated by the judge pursuant to 9° and 10° of Article 255, all information and documents useful for determining benefits and pensions and liquidating the matrimonial property regime.

The judge may make any useful enquiries of debtors or those who hold assets on behalf of the spouses without professional secrecy being enforceable.

Les époux doivent se communiquer et communiquer au juge ainsi qu’aux experts et aux autres personnes désignées par lui en application des 9° et 10° de l’article 255, tous renseignements et documents utiles pour fixer les prestations et pensions et liquider le régime matrimonial.

Le juge peut faire procéder à toutes recherches utiles auprès des débiteurs ou de ceux qui détiennent des valeurs pour le compte des époux sans que le secret professionnel puisse être opposé.
