Article 310-3 of the French Civil Code

Parentage is proved by the child’s birth certificate, by the acknowledgement certificate or by the notoriety certificate establishing possession of status.

If an action is brought pursuant to Chapter III of this Title, parentage is proved and contested by any means, subject to the admissibility of the action.

La filiation se prouve par l’acte de naissance de l’enfant, par l’acte de reconnaissance ou par l’acte de notoriété constatant la possession d’état.

Si une action est engagée en application du chapitre III du présent titre, la filiation se prouve et se conteste par tous moyens, sous réserve de la recevabilité de l’action.
